Kansas City Urban Core Scholarship Program

This program offers high school students the opportunity to take a four-week ceramics class at KC Clay Guild free of cost.

This program includes for students who attend high school in the following districts:  Kansas City Public Schools, Raytown Quality Schools, Center School District and Hickman-Mills C-1 School District

Students that have a keen interest in art and who can make the commitment to attend all four classes are encouraged to apply for this opportunity.  

Students must provide their own transportation to and from the class, which is held at 200 W. 74th St. Kansas City, MO 64114.

Application Process:

E-mail the following to Louis Reilly, Studio Director (studio@kcclayguild.org):

  • A brief letter that addresses the following questions:

  1. Why are you interested in taking a ceramics class at KC Clay Guild?

  2. Why is art important?

  3. What would you gain from taking a ceramics class?

  4. Each of the four classes are 3 hours long. Can you commit to staying engaged, respectful and positive in each of the four classes? 

  • An image of an artwork that you are inspired by.

  • An image of an artwork that you made.

  • The name and contact information for a personal reference that is not a family member.

We will carefully review your application, reach out to your personal reference and promptly inform you if you have been accepted to this program.  If you are accepted, Louis Reilly will assist you in choosing a class that will best fit your schedule.
