KC Clay Guild offers classes that accommodate first-timers through advanced potters. Classes run Monday - Thursday and Saturday. Anyone can learn to throw on the potter's wheel or learn how to work with clay using hand building techniques in one of our classes. Hand building vs. Wheel throwing
Hand building classes focus on techniques such as pinching, coiling, extruding, and molding.
Wheel throwing classes employ the potter's wheel as the primary means of forming clay.
Cost and what is included:
Adult classes are $135 for members and $170 for non-members. Children's classes are $60 for members and $70 for non-members. Each class session runs four weeks. The tuition includes: four class sessions, 25 pounds of clay, glazes, firings, and free access to work in the studio independently outside of class time (for adult students only). Students have to stay in the same class and meeting time each week.
